D's cousin's family 18th was nice - met a few new people, caught up with people I've met before, and reacquainted myself with people I've met once before.

D and I left around 7.30pm because he needed to practice violin, and I needed dinner. It was pouring with rain (it had started spitting when I left my house originally, at 1.30pm) and was flooding the roads a bit. It's still raining now - on and off. It's a nice change from the dry and dusty weather we've had the last few days. But I hope it's decent (not too wet) weather for J and L's wedding on Saturday.

Speaking of, I'm so excited about what I've got for them (so excited, I bought it three months ago, lol!). I think I've chosen well, having listened carefully when L was looking at a magazine or brochure this other person lent her in October last year. She was explaining about how she has all the practical stuff since she's lived out of home for two years, and how she has some nice decorative pieces that were white plaster-ish flower designs. Well, for their engagement, I gave her a minimalist, classy vase (ie - versatile and unobtrusively cylindrical, and glass) with Oriental Lilies. She was so pleased, because they're her favourite flowers (hell, I picked them because they were pink, and she wears so much pink) - in fact her dad has a flower farm in Tasmania with a whole field of this type of lily. They are using the vase in the decorations for their reception!!

Anyway, I got sidetracked - sorry. For their wedding, I've gone decorative again. I've taken the white plaster-ish flora look, and gotten her two white-painted metal bases with glass open-topped globes inside and two round pink candles to go with, to begin. I think she'll like it - the pink won't be too much for J, either - because it's small and decorative and she can use it wherever she wants. Like on the table, the mantelpiece, the coffee table, in the bedroom, in the bathroom ... whee ... I'm so excited. In fact, I want candle holders (I saw nice ones where I bought the gift).

I went shopping today, and I bought a birthday present for [info]miss__scarlet, some metallic gel ink pens, a black pen. a hole puncher, and a card to go with J and L's wedding present. It was pleasant. I also spent a few unfruitful hours searching for a 2004 calendar (a decent one, not one on a random breed of dog I have no interest in, or on the city of Adelaide). Feh. I'll need a new calendar soon, because my current one runs out in June (it was an 18 month calendar), and if I enrol in a massage course in the next month, I'll need to write down when courses are, etc.

My cat's fallen asleep inside a paper bag on the floor of my room. S'funny - he's been hyper the last three days - chewing the corners of boxes, etc. I think he's bored, but though I try to play with him, he's not actually that interested, so it's a no-win situation.
