Well, this weekend was fun. Yay for Easter long weekend, and seeing friends that haven't been seen in ages.
On Saturday, after three prior late nights and early starts, I had set my alarm to wake me up at 6.30. For one reason or another it didn't actually go off and I ended up being woken by my friend S calling me at 7.20am to ask where I was. I was supposed to pick her up from the interstate bus station at 7am ... Bleah. She was very forgiving though, and I took her to breakfast first before we went back to my house to wait until our lunch date with other friends. S's family has moved interstate, and although she's studying in another city and we don't see her except at holiday time, we're disappointed to know that this move means that she will go elsewhere during the semester and year breaks. Anyway, lunch was lovely - yum cha at a little and very busy restaurant in Chinatown. Delicious. Then we went through the city and attempted to find her a farewell present. We originally wanted to buy a plate that was hand-painted with a personal message, but the shop that does that was closed! So we spent another two hours searching, searching, searching before we found something (a gorgeous single row of pale blue diamantes in a bracelet and necklace - not something I'd wear especially, but something that she both liked, and would wear). Then we went our separate ways, I went home, as did
miss__scarlet and K and S. S went to stay at K's house for the afternoon until her overnight bus back.
On Saturday night I went to a Latino party at the Governor Hindmarsh Hotel. Lots of fun, although I was disappointed at several things - the nastiness of some of the other women there (something I've not previously experienced) and the arrival of a girl whom I don't actively seek to spend time with. She wasn't invited but then again it wasn't like it was my party and your name had to be on the list, lol. I survived anyway, and shortly afterwards we left to go home, because D had to work the next morning and I was almost asleep on my feet.
I got home by about 12.30am, and although I fell asleep straight away (my late nights and early mornings catching up with me), I was woken up at 2.30am by my brother running to and from the toilet to vomit (yick). Food poisoning, he reckons, but I think he had gastro. Or too much alcohol. Needless to say he didn't come out later for brunch (at a family friend's house), but remained at home on the couch with a bucket nearby.
Brunch on Sunday started at 10.30, and it was very yum! Sausages, tomatoes, barbecued mushrooms, French toast, croissants, bread, jam, cream, berries, fruit salad, and a dark chocolate molded fish - provided by my family as a thank you and happy Easter gift. And it was very nice, too ... *grins*
I left about 1.30 to go home as I was still very tired, and although I attempted to read and finish an article about virus writers, and their ethics, and exactly how they claim their creations are spread in the end (largely by "script kiddies" who don't fully realise the impact the release of something so destructive can have) ... but I didn't. I got to the last page and fell asleep. I didn't wake up again until 5pm when my parents came home from what had started as brunch lol. I spoke to D on the phone about his day and mine, and when we were next able to see each other and what plans had changed, etc. Then my family gave out our Easter eggs. I had FOUR! FOUR I tell you! Unheard of ... my Easters (one egg) are much like Christmas (one present, no tree). But I managed to convince my mother to splash out and get two this year, and I got one from D and one from his family.
Now it's 9pm, and despite having slept all day, I'm till so very tired. I think I will be going to bed shortly. Bleah.
