Does anyone else receive random calls to their cell phones over night? In particular, at either 3am or 5am ... a couple of years ago, the trend was 5am on my phone. And last night? 3am - but I turned it off to sleep, so the caller was put through straight to voicemail. They left neither a message nor a return number, so I guess it was a prank caller. I assume also that the 5am calls were either prank calls or accidental calls (phone buttons being bumped in handbags or pockets, etc) as generally there would be a lot of noise or shouting in the background. I don't know who would call and hang up upon receiving voicemail though - that's unusual. Most accidental calls are a little longer in duration, as no one knows they're being made.
I had a hair cut on Saturday. It looked lovely straight, but after I washed it, the curls have been a little too wayward and short and frizzy - probably largely to do with the humidity in the air. When I woke up this morning (before I washed it back to curls) the straight had already slightly curled due to the humidity over night. I'm going to straighten my brother's hair sometime soon - just for fun. I might do mine again, as I think maybe the hair cut is a little too short at the moment.
Also, over the weekend we took my car for a spin in a Nissan Silvia car club cruise. We beat a Subaru WRX through the hills and took my car up to 150kph (obviously not top speed, but fast anyway). We got compliments from the subaru driver afterwards, he said he couldn't keep up, and that my car was little but very quick through the hills (I think we had the home ground advantage as the cruise went through the roads that D drives quite regularly). We had three people in the car (D, me and his little brother) and a full tank of petrol - lots of dead weight - and we were trying to keep up with RX7s, and Silvias, Sileighties, and Onevias ... etc. Lol, we didn't do too badly, and didn't get laughed at - which was good. Afterwards, I told D that I came up with the name for my car, Drift Kitty. Well, there's only two problems. I can't drift. And my car is hard to drift due to the suspension, etc (although I have no doubt that an accomplished drifter could do it). So, I'm up the creek really. That name is finished before it begins.
Someone crashed their car - out of inexperience. They were going downhill around some corners and came in too fast, panicked, locked the brakes and skidded sideways into the saftey barrier. It ripped off the front panel over the wheel arch on the driver's side. Oops, lol. Fortunately any injuries were superficial - ie, no blood, no scrapes. D had just finished saying to me as we turned onto this road that he was going to back off and that we could expect to see some "fun". He was right. This was the carnage at the first corner. The third corner had similar, but was a bump between two cars causing one to run up the embankment. We also watched a P-plater (probationary licence driver) nearly wipe out himself, another car, and three motorcyclists by trying to overtake (due to inexperience and sheer impatience) the other car on an open corner that bent back in the other direction into a blind corner straight after. He tried to overtake the driver just as the motorcyclists appeared around the corner. It was hearts-in-mouths for a moment, but he was very lucky and everyone managed involved managed to recover and not crash or fall. Whew. D gave the guy a one-line serve on road manners and safety in the car club's online forums later, and he did take it well, and was humble and embarrassed - acknowledging that he was reckless and dangerous in doing that.
Most of the rest of the day was quiet, and today has been similar. I think I need an early night. I keep getting woken up by my brother coming home from the pub or a club, or my dad watching tv at midnight, or cars shining their lights into the room that I'm sleeping in (in a too-small bed) as they go past. Well, hopefully it's not too much longer before I get my own bed and a darker and quieter nook to sleep in. Also, I have plans for dinner tomorrow night with the girls - I'm really looking forward to it. It'll be good to catch up.
