I bought a new digital camera last night. A number of things have been leading up to this purchase, but the final push came from realising that Ed would be here and I wouldn't have a camera to take pictures of us.

I was getting a bit fed up with my Pentax Optio S30 (which, as a basic point-and-shoot is quite all right) which I had bought just prior to Christmas 2004 (nearly 2 years ago). So, I sold it to my parents for half the price I bought it for. It really isn't at all bad for a digital camera, so while the technology is considered fairly outdated, it is still more than adequate for them. I, meanwhile, was too frustrated by the way the camera's operating speed had slowed down. To a couple of seconds, but y'know ... ;) So I planned to buy a new one (even chatted with the guy at the store) but then decided to hold off to save up. Of course, then all the stuff happened with the dogs and the birds and all, and I didn't have a camera to record a few last memories of them.

And then I realised, as I mentioned, that Ed would be here and I'd have no camera. Boo.

So last night I arranged with a guy at another store to purchase a new camera. Not too different from mine, and yet quite a bit ;) I purchased a Pentax Optio T10. It has a touchscreen-based operation, and allows for manipulation of the photographs while they are still in the camera! Fun. It has a 3 inch LCD screen on the back, 6 megapixels, and 3 x optical zoom (which for a point-and-shoot is enough for me).

In honour of my new camera - I give you a completely unnecessary kitty picture:
