When I stayed with [info]ph8 and her man, a few weeks ago, something happened to remind me of the lovely thing about long term relationships.

What I really like is the way a couple who have been together for quite some time know about each other's "spoons".

"Spoons?" I hear you say.

Yeah, well, it seemed as good a word as any, and actually comes directly from the occurrence that sparked this post.

When a couple have been together for quite some time it usually follows that they know each other's little quirks and personal preferences, and usual cater to them for each other without needing a reminder or to be asked.

Case in point - we were serving up dessert (tasty, tasty, mini-pavlovas for those who must know) and I watched [info]ph8 get out spoons. Two normal dessert spoons for herself and me. One teaspoon with an extra long handle for her guy. So .... "spoons".

I love it. I like that part about relationships. Especially when both people remember these sorts of things for each other.

I think small courtesies like that may be a big part of what keeps a relationship running smoothly day-to-day. I cried for half an hour straight with "How Does She Know" from Enchanted on repeat, both because I am overloaded with hormones and because Mike does little things such as are outlined in the song. Like getting me a salad fork for my salad instead of the dinner fork he uses for absolutely everything. Or sneaking applesauce into the shopping cart for me yesterday when I wasn't looking.

We're all about the spoons and pepper ;)

BTW -- I was telling Samuel about your comment re snapping and he was amazed I only snapped at him once in all the time you were here. Apparently I snap regularly (because I am a big meanie) without cause (because he is an angel) so you must be a very happy-making calm-bringing sort of house guest ;) *hee*

Haha =D

Oh, really? Lol, maybe he thought you snapped more than I recognised you snapping? =P

But I go with being the calm-bringing and happy-making house guest. =D *SNUGS*

*giggles* Last week, our friend Adam was over for dinner. I had made veggie stir-fry. I served Adam's and mine on plates, with forks, and Ty's in a bowl, with a spoon. Adam was amused. :)

Working in a restaurant, I see this kind of thing a lot. It's especially adorable when old, married couples do it. :)
