When I stayed with
ph8 and her man, a few weeks ago, something happened to remind me of the lovely thing about long term relationships.
What I really like is the way a couple who have been together for quite some time know about each other's "spoons".
"Spoons?" I hear you say.
Yeah, well, it seemed as good a word as any, and actually comes directly from the occurrence that sparked this post.
When a couple have been together for quite some time it usually follows that they know each other's little quirks and personal preferences, and usual cater to them for each other without needing a reminder or to be asked.
Case in point - we were serving up dessert (tasty, tasty, mini-pavlovas for those who must know) and I watched
ph8 get out spoons. Two normal dessert spoons for herself and me. One teaspoon with an extra long handle for her guy. So .... "spoons".
I love it. I like that part about relationships. Especially when both people remember these sorts of things for each other.

Friends of mine, a married couple, are in Sydney for their wedding anniversary. I collected them from the airport and delivered them to their hotel - not without some backtracking and the like (I knew there was a reason I avoided driving in the Sydney CBD). I parked at the hotel and then walked around the CBD and Darling Harbour a bit with them to help them find some dinner and see a bit of the place at night and bustling.
While waiting at a corner for my girlfriend to throw a street performer a few coins, my gazed wandered and I found myself glancing at the patrons of a bar/pub. Some of the patrons sat inside at the open windows, and some at tables outside.
At the table nearest to us sat two young men having a drink together. The one closest to me, young, cute, trim, looked up, held my gaze for a moment and then raised both of his eyebrows and grinned before winking at me. I blushed, I believe, and looked at the ground. But then I remembered a friend of mine had told me I ought to smile more, and that doing so lights up my face. I thought this young man deserved to at least be dazzled then. So I raised my eyes to his and then smiled at him for the brief moment before my friend finished with the street performer and the light to cross went green.
What an absolute ego boost. I wish I'd had the courage and thought to drag my friends into the bar for a drink to see if he would approach me... =(

It's very exciting.
miss__scarlet went to Europe for two months and met up with her man in Paris. And he proposed. Yay! =D
I mentioned this to Darius in case he was out of the loop (which he has been known to be) but he texted back to say he had heard and that he had wanted to tell them they were a really cute (possibly the cutest ever) couple ... but he felt it might seem weird saying it to
miss__scarlet's man. So, I thought I'd say it for him.
They are totally cute. I also think, and therefore must add, that they have a really romantic story of a relationship. It's all blissful and very lovely. Yay! =D
What a moodlifter for my week =)

Some mail came for me in the last day or so (all business-ish unfortunately, nothing for pleasure). One letter contained the documents etc that I needed to lodge a postal vote for the upcoming federal election. The other was my tax return information forwarded by my mother - I had received and opened it in Adelaide last weekend, and forgotten to bring it with me on the way back to Sydney. The usual address notations were scribbled on the outside.
On the back was a one line note from my little brother.
The combination of things we share together (the Italian language, our ethnic heritage) ... and the small way of getting his message though touched me. It means "I love you, elder sister".

Today has been a pretty awesome day.
I got the free newspaper that is released at close of business each working day. It's a gossip and rant rag mostly. There's a section where people can text or email thoughts on topics, or respond to previous ranters.
There is also a section called "Here's Looking At You".
I would like to draw everyone's attention to the following comment:
For the nosy, I was running late finishing at work on Tuesday and caught the 6pm train from North Sydney to Central, before changing to the light rail to Lilyfield. I had my hair out and natural. I was wearing a black top. I was juggling shopping, my handbag and a copy of the mX. Too many coincidences? I hope so*.
That is all.
*seriously though, do you think I'm clutching at straws? Is my vanity and ego kicking in in assuming it was me that this message is to? I don't always grab the mX, often in a hurry or too late and have missed the hand out ... but today I got one as I entered the North Sydney station chatting to a girlfriend in Adelaide on the phone.

THIS IS FOR YOU:
To the girl with curly hair, wearing a black top who took
the 6pm train from North Sydney to Central on Tuesday. I
hope you pick up today's mX and read this. You are
gorgeous.
